In cooperation with Homola a.s., we carried out double-sided line stopping of a DN 500 gas pipeline in Ostrava at an operating pressure of 1 bar. The work included preparation of the equipment, line stopping operations, and replacement of a pipeline section, including the installation of valves. The entire project was completed without interrupting gas supply.
Preparation of the Line Stopping Equipment
On the first day, fittings were welded onto the pipeline, the line stopping equipment was assembled, and the pipeline was tapped. The preparation also included the installation of a bypass connecting both chambers, which was carried out by Homola a.s.
Line Stopping and Pipeline Section Replacement
On the second day, the line stopping operations were performed and the existing pipeline section was cut out. A new pipeline section with a DN 500 gate valve and a branch connection to a new DN 315 PE pipeline, also equipped with a gate valve, was then installed.
Homola a.s. was responsible for cutting out the original pipeline section, welding the new section, and installing it.
This project demonstrates the capabilities of FASTRA line stopping technology for modifications to gas pipeline networks without interrupting operation.
